Sculpture By the Sea
Sorry for the latency in posting, the arrival of the Mannens combined with my research proposal being due has shorted out the few synapses I had reserved for any kind of recreational activities. Been up until 2 or 3am three nights in a row. Not good times.
But what was good times was last week at the Sculpture to Sea exhibition. I found out about this originally by reading the SF Gate photos of the day section, then realized the entire thing was within eyesight of our kitchen window. We certainly don't have our finger on the pulse of Sydney society quite yet. Sculpture to Sea is the largest annual outdoor sculpture exhibition in the world, something along the lines of a hundred works positioned along a coastal cliff walk between Bondi and Tamarama beach.
It's last day is tomorrow, when all of the works will be sold off to private bidders. Small red dots by the placard displays have indicated which works have been sold already. The ones that we noticed already purchased were sleek, silver, wind powered displays. Somebody must have gone bulk.
This coastal walk is unlike any the world. Stretching for about three miles with relative incline, it hugs the edge of the cliff along the most beautiful urban beaches anywhere. Bronte being no exception. The crowds have been pretty thick, the weekend we went it was just a mash of people (us included) lining up for photos. As the coastal walk also doubles as a jogging trail, there was a visible element of frustration as the sweaty spandexers tried to shuffle and push between crowds of art aficionados.
Peggy and her folks have jetted off to Tasmania for the weekend, leaving me ragged and unshaven. The proper attire to try to assemble some semblance of a proposal document. Have only left the house to eat this weekend, begrudgingly changing out of my pajamas to seek nourishment. Upon the Mannen's return, will return to my normal self. We'll be sure to post many a photos of Tazzie for you devils to view.
