Read. Click. Repeat.
We're suffering a bit from 'link-rot' these days, having to rely upon the internet for all forms of entertainment. Given that once we pass the morning-time, all fresh content stops being posted pretty much everywhere else in the world. It makes for a pretty paltry selection in terms of what is interesting and relevant to read.
An exceptions to this were when Hurricane Katrina hit, as well as the few days surrounding the race riots. Then, there was no shortage of content, a new article was posted every hour or so. Lately, with the holiday season slowing things down, the inter-web seems particularly stale. Maybe I'm just not visiting the right sites or don't have a good enough grasp on what I would possibly find interesting.
With the advent of Apple Music and Video stores, Google downloads and other online television content providers, we are given some glimpse of the boob toob as we once knew it, but these are few and far between. In its' place are evenings of computer Scrabble, magazines or bumbling around the web for another few hours each night. Yet, nothing can replace the passive wash of mindless programming, automatically whisking you away and asking no prompts.
I have also started to view my laptop with increasing disdain, coming home from a day of monitor strain at either work or school to face yet even more time with the flickering magic box. The fantastic summer weather certainly compounds this as well, gorgeous days spilling into hot, sticky nights.
